Minimum Wage in Minneapolis

The Minneapolis City Council Committee known as the “Vote 15” attempted to have a proposal added to the general election ballot that would amend the city’s charter to raise the minimum wage in Minneapolis.  The proposal would have raised the minimum wage to $10/hour beginning August 1, 2017 and increasing incrementally each year until reaching $15/hour August 1, 2020 (2022 for employers with less than 500 employees).

While this specific measure failed, efforts to raise the minimum wage have not stopped.  The Committee is continuing to do due diligence and develop a minimum wage policy for Minneapolis which it is expected to present to the Committee of the Whole by the second quarter of 2017.
