Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Minnesota Human Rights Act (MHRA), employers are required to provide disabled employees a reasonable accommodation that will enable them to perform their job. The disability must be severe enough to disrupt regular life activities and the disability must be known to the employer. The employer is not obligated to provide an accommodation if it can show that it would be an undue burden.
Getting a reasonable accommodation should be an interactive process between the employee and employer. Disabled employees also may have rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). If you are struggling to get a reasonable accommodation from your employer or have been terminated because of your disability, contact Alicia Anderson for an assessment of your case.
